Event Wave was tapped to conceive and execute a unique sound design for a high profile university leadership summit. Rigging and suspension of production equipment were not permitted in this unique venue, and traditional speaker stands and stacks were not aesthetically acceptable to the event producer. Sound designer Peter Carpentier overcame these and other challenges through a clever deployment of our in-house technologies.

JBL Vertec VT4886 loudspeakers, grouped in horizontal arrays of three boxes each, were inconspicuously mounted to the tops of scenic columns behind the stage. The narrow pattern control of the horizontal arrays allowed the sound to be precisely aimed at the audience and not the stage. Rounding out the sound system were JBL VRX928 front fill speakers hidden inside of the stage, and QSC KSub powered masked by the scenic drape.

24 channels of wireless mics were deployed, including 16 channels of Dante-networked Shure ULX-D wireless mics. The live show and stereo recording was mixed on the compact yet powerful Yamaha CL1. The show was simultaneously multitrack recorded via a Dante digital split.
