After thousands of successful shows using Dante audio networking, Event Wave continues to expand its Dante-compatible inventory, enabling increasingly complex and cutting-edge audio systems to be installed faster and easier.

New Dante-Enabled Products

  • Powersoft X8 Amplifier
  • Shure Axient Digital Wireless Microphone
  • Shure PSM1000 In-Ear Monitor (via Tascam ML-16D Dante Interface)
  • HelixNet HMS-4X Digital Intercom Main Station (via Studio Technologies Dante Interface)
  • Yamaha TF1 with NY64-D Dante card and Tio1608-D Dante Interface

Here are a few examples of the benefits that these new Dante-enabled products can provide:

4-Way Digital Split With Instant Re-Patching

At a recent event, we used Dante to split all of the show inputs (wired and wireless microphones, video playback, audio playback) to four destinations:

  • FOH Mixing Console (Yamaha Rivage PM7)
  • Monitor Mixing Console (Yamaha CL1)
  • Virtual Soundcheck System (Mac mini running Waves Tracks Live)
  • Video Multitrack Record (Mac mini running Waves Tracks Live)

The Virtual Soundcheck System (VSC) allows the FOH mixer to record rehearsals, then play back the recorded tracks at a convenient time to further dial in the mix, without the need for musical artists or performers to be in the room. Every source (wired or wireless mic, video playback, audio playback, etc.) shows up in its appropriate channel, virtually re-creating the same conditions as the rehearsal. This additional rehearsal time allows for a studio-quality mix, without the cost of keeping performers onstage for longer than necessary.

The Video Multitrack Record is a recording of the live show, with every source (wired or wireless mic, video playback, audio playback, etc.) isolated to its own track, allowing for complete re-mix flexibility in post-production. This is an invaluable creative tool for making the most of video recordings of a live event.

For complex shows with multiple sessions requiring different audio inputs, the Dante Controller software application makes it easy to store and recall patches across all equipment in the system with a single click.

Artist Monitoring Systems Become Plug-and-Play

Our flagship artist monitoring systems (Shure PSM1000 In-Ear Monitors and EAW MicroWedge Stage Monitors) have both gone Dante. Our PSM1000 8-channel rack is now equipped with a Tascam ML-16D Dante interface, transforming 16 analog inputs into a digitally-patchable networked audio device. With the recent upgrade to Powersoft X8 amplifier racks, our MicroWedges source signals can be directly patched from any Dante-compatible mixing console, including all of our Yamaha mixers.

Whether artists choose in-ear monitors, wedges, or both, we now can offer the simplicity, quality, and efficiency of Dante digital audio patching. Routing 32 channels of monitor mixes to in-ears and wedges only takes a quick drag-and-drop, a significant time and space savings compared to analog patching via numerous multi-pair snakes.

Axient DigitalSystem Monitoring Becomes A Snap

From the beginning of our Dante integration, we’ve used a number of Dante tools to allow the A2 or System Engineer to monitor audio inputs and outputs. These products include the Attero-Tech unDNEMO, the Behringer X32 Core, and computers running Wavetool or Tracks Live. With the click of a mouse or the flip of a switch, an A2 can instantly monitor any wireless microphone, to check for and verify clean, crisp audio before a presenter or performer walks on stage.

Now with Shure Axient Digital, we have the simplest and most convenient Dante monitor tool yet. Axient Digital receivers provide two new monitoring modes: Dante Cue and Dante Browse.

  • With Dante Cue, the A2 plugs a pair of headphones into one Axient Digital receiver (the “Cue Station”), and can then listen to any Axient microphone within the network, even if it’s a different hardware receiver, such as in our Axient Digital 12-Channel Rack. No more unplugging and plugging the headphone jack to find the right microphone!
  • With Dante Browse, using the same headphone jack, the A2 can scroll through all Dante devices in the network, and choose to listen to any channel, whether or not the device is a Shure microphone. For example, a video playback device or DJ input can be monitored to check for signal.

With these two new modes, our Axient Digital Wireless systems are not only the most reliable, highest quality wireless microphones, but they provide the simplest, most readily-available Dante monitoring tool in our workbox.
